Dave Guy
Dave Guy studied trumpet at La Guardia, School of Performing Arts and then moved on, through scholarship, to both the Manhattan School of Music and graduated with a BA in Performance from the New School –for Contemporary Music in 2000.
Dave hit the road hard by touring, recording, composing and writing along with TV performances for bands such as: The Sugarman Three, The Budos Band, The Menahan Street Band, Lee Fields, Charles Bradly and is a member of Sharon Jones and the Dapkings who were Grammy nominated in 2014 for Best R&B Album. His Recognition grew when the Dap--‐Kings collaborated with Amy Winehouse on her Grammy Award--‐Winning, Multi--‐Platinum record, Back to Black.
He’s a studio musician for artists across the board such as: Michael Buble, Bebel Gilberto, Al Green, Foreigner, The Heavy, Daniel Meriwether, Eric Clapton, Quincy Jones, and the list goes on and on. He’s the go--‐to trumpet--‐ studio musician, for hit producers such as Mark Ronson. Dave recorded trumpet for songs, such as Uptown Funk with Bruno Mars. Which just won two Grammies in the 2016 awards: Record of the Year, and Best Pop Duo. He also featured in and performed in, the 2016 Grammy Award winner for The Best Music Film, Amy.
Currently, Dave is part owner of Sharon Jones and the Dapkings, a working independent studio musician and also the trumpet player for the Roots on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Falllon. He enjoys spending time with his two sons, Rockwell and Reza.
